Important Dates to Remember
*Library Days will be on Fridays
*Specials this week:
-Art: Monday and Thursday
-Gym: Tuesday and Friday
Since we have an early lunch, we are finding that our class is often very hungry by afternoon. Please send your child with a snack every day for afternoon snack. If you would like to contribute to our classroom snack bin so you don’t have to bring a snack every day, you may do that. Snack ideas for the snack bin include crackers, raisins, goldfish, granola bars, etc . If your child brings their own snack, do not feel obligated to contribute to our snack bin. Thank you!
I will be updating my wish list weekly for any items needed for the classroom.

A Note from the Teacher:
We will be having our Valentine’s Day Party on February 14 in the afternoon. I will be sending home reminders to those who have already signed up to contribute something to our party. A class list will also go home to help fill out Valentine’s. I have included a list for Miss Monks if your child wants to give to their class too, but you do not have to. If students want to make their own box at home that is fine, otherwise they can make a basic pouch at school with construction paper to store their Valentine’s.
This Week We Learned....
Math: Students worked hard this week and learned how to read and create horizontal/vertical bar graphs and line plots. We measured the lengths of our hand spans and competed different graphs using the data. Next week we will be wrapping up our unit and will have our UNIT TEST. I will send home a reminder when the test will be. Right now it is looking like Tuesday or Thursday.
REMEMBER: Please complete homework and bring back to school the following day as we go over together in class as well as at workshop time. Your child may be sent to the office to complete homework as the rest of the class is going over answers.
REMEMBER to study for at least FIVE minutes every night over your multiplications, divisions, and count-bys. One of the 3rd Grade standards in math is to know all the multiplication and division facts (0-10) FLUENTLY! It takes time and practice to memorize all the facts. We discuss strategies in class to help us remember, but additional practice and studying needs to be at home! Thank you!
Social Studies: We continued Unit 3 this week which is about the History of Michigan. We learned about the first people in Michigan including Native Americans like the Hopewell, the tribes in “The Three Fires,” and other tribes. Next week we will be learning about how the French and British came to Michigan.
Language Arts: Students go over to Miss Monks class for reading. See separate note to check out what they have been working on in
